RC Car Track

My team and I decided to make a track to go along with the car. I helped to pick and modify the materials. The base of the track is a tarp. The guides on the track are pool noodles cut into quarters and attached with velcro. There is a straightaway path, a circle path, and a figure eight path traced out in velcro. These paths are meant to create challenges for users of various skill levels. Additionally, the track is designed to be easily disassembled and reassembled.

I advocated for pool noodles because they are inexpensive and fulfilled our need for soft and flexible guides. Previously, we had run into problems by trying to construct our guides out of plastic garden edging which was too rigid.

I also suggested that we could use the extra space on the tarp for a straightaway. This idea evolved into making a bowling lane that would not only be fun but would also provide a low difficulty challenge in steering the car.
