Button Board

This is a button board. On our second visit to Reach Services, to show prototypes of our concepts, we saw their button boards and were moved. These boards serve a very important purpose in that they help children with fine motor difficulties practice buttoning and unbuttoning things. This is a very important skill and is especially useful in dressing one's self.

The button boards at Reach Services, as most button boards are, are not in any way engaging. The therapist we were talking with mentioned that she has to work hard to motivate her clients to use them because there is no reward.

However, one of concepts was very similar in purpose to a button board.
